How will I be graded?

Completed Design Projects —60%?

DTP Notebook and homework—20%

Professional Grade—10%?

Quizzes—10%?

How Will the Design Projects be graded?

Whenever possible, I will provide rubrics for each design project that tell you what I expect for Excellent, Good, Moderate, and Poor work. I consider three main things in evaluating student’s design work:

1.    Effort (visible in the work and/or demonstrated in class; spend quality time on your work!) ?

2.    Creativity (how original your work is) ?

3.    Following Directions (did you explore the assignment as given?)

What Kind of Homework Will There Be?

Occasionally there will be some homework in the form of research, materials collection, brainstorming, preliminary design sketches, or exercises. If you fall behind and have to finish work outside of class, it is your responsibility to make arrangements with me to use the materials at home or after school. ??

What Will the Quizzes, Tests and Exams Be Like?

You will be quizzed on vocabulary and concepts. These are necessary so that I may assess whether you are ready for the next level.

How Will My Participation, Professional Points and Attendance Affect My Grade?

Class participation with design projects essential to a good grade in this class. I expect each of you to act professionally. You must respect the room, classroom equipment, and each other! Anyone who disrespects any one of these things may find himself or herself failing the class. Professional points will constitute 10% of your overall grade.

Absence Policy

Unexcused absences will take away daily points.  Excused absences will not affect students grade and extra time will be granted for student to complete projects.
